I was reading a book review of "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" on a friends blog and once I started writing I couldn't stop. So I decided this would be a great first blog for my site. SO. Here ya go.
Douglas Adams is my hero. The Hitchhikers Guide are the only set of books I've read multiple times and I'm likely to read through them again.
I was as excited as a kid on X-mas when the movie came out. Tracy, the girls, and I were standing in line wrapped in our towels. Those who understood laughed, others stared. The towels as it turned out were incredibly useful. I've watched the movie multiple times as well. I think it's directed more towards fans and may leave new comers at a bit of a loss at times.
Oh, I have the BBC series on DVD too. I'd like to have the radio broadcast too. Each retelling has some variation to it.
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency and The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul, The Second Gently book, are great detective style stories involving Odin, A cybernetic Monk, a trip in time, Primordial ooze and a sofa that won't be moved.
Salmon of Doubt is a must for any Adams fan. It's a collection of Adams book ideas, Letters, unfinished stories, essays, short stories and other tidbits. Compiled just after Adams' death. Among these are "The Private Life of Genghis Khan" , "Young Zaphod Plays It Safe", and The beginings of a new Dirk Gently story involvong the search of the missing lower half of a cat.
Here's what got me going. Thanks Frank.
